Belated Link Dump
For too long I've winced at Pizza Hut commercials unproductively. Their tater-tot-like pullable stuffed crust should have been the last straw. It should have inspired parody. If not in me, then in you. Thankfully, The Onion has taken care of business.
And while we're at The Onion, this headline nicely summarizes the relationship between the media and society.
My friend Tom sent me this. A Chinese restaurant hired an unqualified translator for its menu, and the results were decidedly unappetizing. I think my favorite item is "Carbon burns black bowel". Mmmmmmm!
What does it say about the media—and us—that an impressive 3,000-pound Gigantoraptor was discovered recently, and nobody heard about it over the din of Paris Hilton news that continues to dominate the media? Yes, yes...the ongoing theme continues.
A lot of interesting cosmological discoveries lately. Didn't hear about them on the Daily Vehicle for Selling Advertising, AKA the evening news? Maybe an ongoing tally is in order. The 3 networks, plus CNN and Fox, each get a point for every minute dedicated to space and relevant discoveries, and subtract a point for any mention of Paris Hilton. That's one irrelevant celebrity vs. any and all mentions of cosmological/astronomical theories or discoveries, lets say over a 3-month period. What do you think the scores would be?
